NAMI Georgia is committed to helping relieve the suffering and improve the quality of life for Georgians living with mental illness and their families. All across the state our chapters provide support right in your community through support group meetings and educational classes. These groups provide a place that offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope.

NAMIWalk Georgia in Atlanta is an opportunity to help support these programs. The proceeds from this walk will go right back into your community, helping your friends, family, and neighbors living with mental illness.

NAMI Northside Atlanta Walks

Each year, thousands of concerned citizens in over 84 communities across the nation walk together to raise money and awareness about our country’s need for a world-class treatment and recovery system for people with mental illness.

We depend on generous volunteers to raise funds and awareness.

One in five families will be affected by some form of mental illness. These chemical imbalance illnesses of the brain can turn lives of promise into costly lifelong struggles that can include crisis events, hospitalizations, incarcerations, unemployment and homelessness. Over 90% of the 30,000 suicides each year are people suffering from some form of serious mental illness.

Mental Illness treatment funds and policies are set by state government in association with incentives from the federal government. A unified statewide advocacy approach is the most effective means to move Georgia State Government toward evidence-based and cost effective treatments that can provide positive and productive outcomes. The funds raised in our walk help support crisis intervention training for law enforcement officers, education for families dealing with the many types of mental illness and lobbying efforts at the state and national level.
