The Silver Lining Project

NAMI Northside Atlanta Member or Supporter:
Please accept this invitation to join us in launching a very exciting project. Last year NAMI Northside Atlanta (NNA) accomplished a lot. In 2014 we plan to do even more!

A 2013 member’s survey and our Mental Health FAIR last Fall showed us the need for more and better Community Services. Our plan is to begin a project that identifies and goes after the services we need to become a model for delivering mental health services. The “SILVER LINING” is our vision and we intend to take continuous steps forward. We have the enthusiastic support of our prior Presidents, Jerry Bishop and Susie Kyle and our new President, Dave Lushbaugh.

Many national and state programs have been defunded with the expectation that communities will provide services needed locally. Unfortunately community programs have not kept pace with needs. We think we can make a difference by defining requirements and seeking funding to serve the needs of families in NAMI Northside Atlanta. This is an opportunity to direct the talent and resources of NAMI Northside more directly. We will seek expansion of successful existing programs and look at areas such as treatment centers, faith based initiatives, school education and others you may recommend.

A planning session will be held Saturday, February 15  from 10am – 2pm at Dunwoody UMC. This meeting will include: project direction setting, independent work group team sessions and lunch followed by individual team presentations to the full group. Please RSVP to Bill.
